Gro-Daddy Features & Benefits

Why should I use Gro-Daddys in my garden?

If you are starting an early-season garden you are betting on good weather.  Fluctuations in temperature, especially overnight, can dip down to freezing or frost conditions.  Likewise, late  in the fall temeprature can have the same fluctuations.   The Gro-Daddywas designed for these conditions.   It can shelter your garden plants and optimize the heat that the sun produces during the day.  This can minimize if not eliminate the chance of crop damage during overnight low temperature conditions.

How does the Gro-Daddy work?

The Gro-Daddys unique patent pending design has vertical cells that can be filled with water.  The Gro-Daddyis a closed system once the water is added.  It works on the same principle Florida citrus growers have used for decades.  When a hard frost is anticipated, they encapsulate the fruit with water to insulate it from frost damage.  The Gro-Daddy takes it one step farther, it not only insulates the seed or plant from freezing wind & temperatures, it also re-radiates the absorbed daily solar heat back into the airspace and soil around the plant.  Once filled, the bottom 6″ of the Gro-Daddy is buried in the garden soil.  This does two things:

1.  It stabilizes the Gro-Daddy allowing it to resist wind, rain and sloping garden topography.

2.  It also keeps the internal water from freezing, over several days of freezing temperatures given some daily sunshine.

In our tests, over multiple below freezing nightly temperatures, the Gro-Daddy did not freeze.  This is due to the portion of the Gro-Daddy buried beneath the garden soil and the portion above ground that receives solar energy during the day.  No other product on the market can do this!

Can the Gro-Daddy work during other times of the growing season?

Yes, during the summer the Gro-Daddy can create an more humid environment around your plants.  Because it can be closed at the top using the draw string, it can retain moisture by slowing evaporation.  Not only are you creating a better “greenhouse” growing environment by you are saving water!  Even if your vegetable plant rises above  the Gro-Daddy you can still heat the soil and retain moisture around the root ball.

What are the small plastic circles used for?

The small plastic circles can serve two functions:

1.   They can be installed where the hose holes are located to form self-closing flaps (to keep insects from accessing the
water).  By using a small drop of silicone caulking, the flaps can be glued to the outside or inside of the Gro-Daddy.

2.  They can be used to seal any potential leaks if a cell containing water springs a leak by also using silicone
     caulking.

The Gro-Daddy is re-usable and recyclable.
